DMA's Release Live Album 'Live In Brixton'
Australian three-piece band DMA’s have gone from strength to strength over the last 5 years since releasing their debut outstanding single ‘Delete’. The band formed in Sydney in 2012 and is made up of Tommy O'Dell, Matt Mason, and Johnny Took. Since releasing their debut single in 2014 they have been labelled as one of the best new indie bands currently coming out of Australia and been on Triple J’s top 100 beside acts such as Tame Impala and Sticky Fingers with there cover of Cher’s believe peaking at 6th.
‘Hills End’ was the debut album by DMA's, released on 26 February 2016. It peaked at number eight for one week in March 2016 on the ARIA Albums Chart. The album also charted in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. The album has received BRIT Certified Breakthrough status, with its beautifully put together riffs and hard back tracks which shines through the records ‘In the Moment’ and the fan favourite ‘Step Up the Morphine’.
This was quickly followed by there second album ‘For Now’, released on 27 April 2018. The album was supported by seven singles. At the ARIA Music Awards of 2018, the album was nominated for three awards: Best Group, Best Rock Album and Best Independent Release. At the J Awards of 2018, the album was nominated for Australian Album of the Year. Four tracks from the album were voted into consecutive Triple J Hottest 100 countdowns, "Dawning" in 2017 and "In the Air", "The End" and "Do I Need You Now?" in 2018.
There newest album brings a modern indie touch to DMA’s. ‘The Glow’ was released on 10 July 2020. Lead single "Silver" ranked at number 20 in Triple J's Hottest 100 of 2019. Guitarist Johnny Took said of the album "It's about how people are always looking for something better. It's got that universal sense that anyone can relate to, that exhaustion you sometimes feel trying to achieve more or be something more." At the ARIA Music Awards of 2020, the album was nominated for four awards, including ARIA Award for Album of the Year.
Today they have a new live album coming out called ‘Live In Brixton’ which will highlight the explosiveness of DMA’s live atmosphere plus share an exclusive set list of what they’ll be providing at this summers festivals provided they go ahead.
